The Caps traveled to Stonewall on Tuesday night for the return match with the Interlake Lightning and came away with a solid 8-1 win outshooting their hosts 75-14.

The sweep of the Home and Home Seires with the Lightning gives the Caps 27 points in the MFMHL standings and although still in 4th place are only 2 points behind the league leading Westman Wildcats and 1 point behind both Yellowhead and Pembina Valley in second place as only 2 points separate the Top 4 teams in the MFMHL.

The Caps again had a balanced attack with 11 players picking up points for the second straight game as they got 2 goals from both Chelsea Hallson and Stephanie Stinson, 3 points from Mekaela Fisher with a goal and 2 assists, 1 goal and 1 assist from Lindsey Rutherford, Mackenzie Guimond and Emily Upgang with Amy Klippenstein picking up 2 assists plus assists from Eryn Stewart, Kelly-Rae Zdan, Marisa Fraser and Sheyla Duncan.

Unlike their game on Sunday the Caps did not get off to a fast start and worked through a tough first period coming away with only a 2-1 lead heading into the intermission with Lacey Friesen having to make several key saves including stopping 2 breakaways even though the Caps outshot the Lightning 25-6. The second period saw the Caps take control limiting the Lightning to 5 shots while firing 32 at the Interlake net and coming away with 4 goals and a 6-1 intermission lead. Two shorthanded goals by Chelsea Hallson and Mekaela Fisher 30 seconds apart on the same penalty kill making the score 4-1 created the momentum that Caps needed to move onto the victory.

The third period saw the Caps continue to limit the Lightning scoring chances only allowing 4 shots while scoring 2 goals off of 18 shots. The Caps had some of their best territorial play in the final frame and missed numerous chances to add to the score.

The Caps are now off until Friday January 8 when they host the Norman Wild to the BDO Centre for the Community for a MFMHL matchup - game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
