In the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League, the Central Plains Capitals won 7-0 over the Eastman Selects tonight.

The Caps had 6 scorers in the victory, Eryn Stewart, Emily Upgang, Stephanie Stinson, Sheridan Oswald and Mackenzie Guimond each netted 1, Mekaela Fisher had 2 on the night.

Capitals' Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen says it took a while for the goals to come.

"We out shot them 9-1 in the first period, and we only came out 1 nothing. We missed some chances to bury probably 2 or 3 good scoring chances that we didn't. But there were some things that we need to focus on like moving the puck a little better and making crisper passes."

Nelissen says they'll now be getting set for their big weekend.

"We needed the win and we found a way to do it. So we'll move from there, practice, and hopefully build for a good result Friday in Hartney."

The Caps will have a chance to close the gap with 3rd place Westman in Hartney Friday night, and first place Yellowhead Sunday at the BDO Centre.
