The Central Plains Caps fell 3-1 to the Winnipeg Avros in Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League action in Winnipeg.

The game was deadlocked at one after the first period and two powerplay goals from the Avros finished off the Caps in the second.

"The shots on net were 22-20 for them so we weren't really shooting enough," says head coach Ferdi Nelissen. "We even had a couple of breakaways that we didn't cash in on. That's just the youth in our club. They're young and they make mistakes, and we haven't been taking advantage of our scoring opportunities like we should."

Marisa Fraser scored the Caps only goal and left in the second period with an unknown injury. "That's going to really hurt because I feel that Marisa and Chloe Snaith are two of the best defence in the league, and if we lose one, it could really hinder our back end."

The Caps are back in action Friday when they host the Eastman Selects.
