The Central Plains Capitals fell 3-2 to Yellowhead in game 2 of their best-of-5 Manitoba AAA Midget quarter final playoff today at the BDO Centre.

The Yellowhead Chiefs came out of the gate fast, directing 16 shots toward Capitals' netminder Duncan McGovern in the first. The Chiefs' hard work paid off as they were able to take a 1-0 lead with only 45 seconds remaining in the period.

Caps' goalie Duncan McGovern was busy in the first, and only allowed 1 goal, keeping his team in the game.

The Caps found their legs in the second, controlling the play for most of the period, and netting two goals along the way. Caps' defender Marco Creta had the first, Liam McKenzie picked up the second. The shots were a little more balanced in that period, with the Caps' outshooting the Chief 11-7.

The Chiefs were able to tie things up at 2 shortly into the third period. They continued to press the Caps, which led to another goal a few minutes later, giving Yellowhead the lead with just over 10 minutes left on the clock. A hand of good luck struck the Capitals in the final half of the period when they were awarded 3 powerplays. Unfortunately, they couldn't capitalize on any of their opportunities and fell 3-2.

The Caps were able to score late in the third to tie the game at 3, but the goal was called back as the net had been kicked off.

Caps' Captain Drew Anderson give this thoughts on the game.

"We played really good, and there were some tough bounces out there, but you just have to deal with it and keep moving forward. Not let us get down and we're going back there and we're going to take it to them."

The best-of-5 series is tied at 1. Game 3 is set for Tuesday in Yellowhead.
