The Central Plains Capitals are on the ice tonight in the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League.

The Caps and Winnipeg Avros are set for their second meeting of the season in Portage la Prairie. Central Plains returned from their trip to Minnesota with heads held high, after taking on some of the best U-19 teams the U.S. had to offer. Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen says it was a real tough weekend of competition.

"There were a lot of national candidates for the US, and they were strong teams, put together all-star teams. We found out what we have to work on, we're a young team and they need to build their confidence."

Two powerplay goals were the difference maker for the Avros when they were in Portage to start the month. Nelissen feels they matched up well even strength.

"5-on-5 we thought the game was pretty even. Now we just need to make sure we're taking care of our own end, and take advantage of the opportunities that come our way."

Tonight's game starts at 7:15 at the BDO Centre.
