The Central Plains Capitals conditioning sessions have been successful in setting the players up for next week's training camps, and the hockey season to follow.

Female Capitals coach Ferdi Nelissen says he's very pleased with the way the three conditioning skates went, adding the girls were pushed hard over the three nights to prepare for the upcoming training camp.

"Personally I though they came in pretty good shape. It's early in the season but some of them have obviously done some stuff through the off-season and it showed up. I was very pleased."

Male Capitals coach Brad Gnidziejko was also impressed by how the boys worked, saying they really put their best foot forward.

"You want them to come and be able to give their best effort and be able to get through the full hour. At this point it's all about them and getting them ready to come to training camp."

Gnidziejko explains how the conditioning helps to prepare the players for next week's training camp.

"It just gets them in their gear, gets them in their skates again, work off some of the rust. The kids for the most part nowadays are staying in pretty good shape in the off-season but you have to handle the puck, you have to work the edges, it's more than just up and down the ice. Tight turns and some of the agility things that they need to work on; it's more or less for that stuff."

Both coaches are excited for the upcoming season, and Nelissen adds he's very optimistic about how it will look.
