The Portage Judo Club's home tournament was this weekend at the BDO Centre.

"It was a very busy Saturday," says head coach Brian Case. "We had 113 total competitors show up and we were very happy with that. 24 of those were from Portage, 10 in the under-10 years of age so no medals are awarded, but we had 14 fighters in the competitive level and we came home with 10 medals."

Case says an event like this takes a lot of volunteers.

"I went to a tournament in BC and they came up with the stat that it takes about one volunteer for every two competitors, and it's probably pretty close to that because we had an army of volunteers this weekend and still seemed to be short of different jobs."

We'll have the results from the Portage competitors Monday.
