The Calgary Flames' Development Camp ended for former Portage Terriers Captain Brad Bowles yesterday.

Bowles was invited out to the camp on a try-out agreement, after finishing the MJHL regular season and playoffs with the most points. Bowles outlines how it all came to be.

"Right after we got home from Portage there was a guy that came to our house and mentioned that there was a chance that I could come to Calgary's development camp. It wasn't for sure there, but two weeks ago I got the call saying I got the invite. It was a pretty nervous feeling."

Bowles was part of Team 4 at the camp, and had a few less ice times than the other 3 teams. Bowles explains how the week went.

"We had testing on Monday all day, it was pretty hard for the most part, you're biking and doing a whole bunch of things like planks and that kind of workout stuff. So it was definitely a hard day, but pretty good to do though. We've had two ice sessions with our group, and it's just been really high paced practices. Mostly it's just getting drills into you and getting a feeling for it. It's been pretty hard so far, but good."

The camp wrapped up with a scrimmage yesterday morning, and a trip to Banff in the afternoon for the players. Bowles says he left everything on the ice, and hopefully turned some heads.

"I'll definitely try to make my mark here, and show them what I've got for sure. Just try to work hard, and you never know what can happen."

Former Terrier Dean Stewart was at Arizona Coyotes' development camp this week. We'll hear from him tomorrow.
