The Portage Blaze weren't able to lift the Central Plains Cup this year.

The Blaze finished with a round robin record of 2 wins, 1 tie, good for 2nd place in their group and a spot in the semi-final. Unfortunately in the semi-final, the Blaze ran out of gas with a much smaller roster than Snipers, and fell 3-1.

Tournament standouts were Val Desjardins who played strong at centre full-back, Cassidy George who scored two goals, and guest call-ups Leanne Scharikow, Michelle Murray and Meghan Welby.

A successful tournament for developing team chemistry which will hopefully lead to some wins in the regular season.

The Blaze return to league play on Friday June 10 vs. Fusion at Republic Park, 7pm.
