The Blaze secured a top three finish in Division 1 with a strong 3-1 win over South End Shooters on Monday night in WWSL Indoor Action, and now have a shot at the division championship. The Blaze could finish in 1st, 2nd or 3rd based on next weeks result against 3rd place Titans, and the division title is not out of the question either as 1st place Classics are only two points up on the Blaze.

The Blaze were first to score in last night's game just three minutes in as Jen West was sent in on a breakaway after receiving a pass from Leanne Scharikow. West blasted a shot off the keepers hip and in for the opening goal. With 15 minutes to play in the half, defender Ashley Buxton sent a long pass towards the goal where defender Nicole Snider had made a long run to get in behind the Shooters defenders. Buxton's pass was right on the money and Snider finished it well with a perfect volley to the top left corner. With 3 minutes left in the half, the Blaze became a little lackadaisical in their own end and left two players unmarked. A Shooters forward received a pass just outside of the penalty area and popped a shot in to the left side to make the score 2-1 at the break.

In the 2nd half the Blaze picked up the pace of the game and continued to dominate possession. Their possession game was rewarded with a third goal with 14 minutes left. Jozefa Azevedo passed the ball to Miranda Lamb at the top of the penalty area, Lamb beat her defender and hammered a left footed shot to the upper left corner to seal the win.

The Blaze sit in 2nd place with a record of 9 wins, 4 ties, and 4 losses with just one game remaining. It will be a very exciting end to the season with the Blaze taking on 3rd place Titans and any of the top three positions in Division One up for grabs.
