The Portage Blaze hope to turn things around tonight in the Winnipeg Women's Soccer League.

They host the California Raisins in Division 2 action at Rotary Republic Park. The Blaze are coming off a tough showing at the Kenora Invitational over the weekend, falling in the B side semi-finals 1-0 to Kenora Cranes. Blaze head coach Bryan Mintenko wants their committed players to step up.

"The players that have been consistently showing up have been playing well, and played well at the tournament. So we're hoping those players will lead the team going forward."

The California Raisins are 5-3-2 this year and sit in 4th place, but the Blaze managed keep things close in a 2-1 loss earlier this season. Mintenko feels they can keep up, and maybe come away with a win.

"It was a close game and we had our chances in that one, so we're hoping to have a better effort this time around. Get a couple goals, and keep playing strong defensively and we should be alright."

The Blaze and California Raisins go at 7:30 at Rotary Republic Park.
