The Portage Skating Club had 2 skaters in the 2016 Skate Canada Challenge Competition in Edmonton with team Manitoba recently.

Chanel Cabak and Dominique Bergeron were both selected to be two of 12 skaters selected from the Province to compete. Chanel Cabak talks about her experience and how she prepares for this kind of event.

"It was really fun and exciting to be at a national event. I train my programs hard when I'm practicing, and then so when I get to the competition I know that if I train good, it will be there when I skate."

Dominique Bergeron talks about some of her highlights from the event.

"There's a lot of great skaters there, so you have to skate your best. It's all about trying to up yourself and stay in the best mind-set you can. I liked getting to meet all the new skaters, then watching them and cheering them on. I know a few skaters from other provinces so getting to see them too."

Both skaters were pleased with their performance at the event. The Portage Skating Club is extremely proud of their two skaters' accomplishment in making it to such a big event.
