The 2017 Skate Canada Manitoba Sectional Championships were last weekend in Morden.

4 Portage Skating Club skaters that competed with each one placing under 10th position. Chanel Cabak placed second in the Pre-Novice Ladies event. Cabak trusts her hard work training will pay off in her skating.

"I train all summer long and skate every day, and train really hard so it's good when I compete, and I just trust my training."

She outlines some of the work she does with multiple trainers.

"Margo Russell is my primary coach and I see her in Winnipeg, and also my mom coaches me in Portage here. They're both pretty involved in my skating."

Ranae Cabak finished 6th in the Juvenile U-12 Ladies event, Mason Panko took second in the Pre-Novice Men, and Megan Hall finished 10th in Novice Ladies. Cabak will be training today at the PCU Centre for a prep seminar from 1:30 to 4:30.

"I qualified for Challenge, which is a National event. It's in Pierrefonds, Quebec at the end of November."

Cabak and other skaters will be running through their programs to get more feedback from judges in preparation for Quebec.
