Portage is in Carman tonight for Game 4 of their South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League best-of-seven semi-final.

The Islanders showed they won't go quietly into the night with Monday's 7-2 win at Stride Place in Portage. It was the first time Portage beat Carman since Feb. 27th, 2016, exactly one year after winning game two of their playoff series last season. Carman leads the series 2-1.

"It was a nice tension reliever for us for sure," says Islanders leading scorer Eric DeLong. "For whatever reason, they've had our number lately, and I think we're two evenly matched teams but for some reason, they were coming out on top. It was nice to change that."

DeLong's tied with Tanner Waldvogel for the team scoring lead. They both have 10 points, five goals and five assists. The Islanders' special team units haven't been in top form this series. Their powerplay sits at a lowly 10 per cent, and they're three-for-eight on the penalty kill in three games.

"I think to get them going we just have to work harder when we are on either the powerplay or the penalty kill," admits DeLong. "We have the guys to be successful, and I don't know the regular season numbers but I feel we did pretty well on both of them. I think it's just a matter of working harder and creating more of those chances that we need."

"I know (Carman) is going to ramp up their game after game three so we'll have to be ready for that," adds DeLong. "We're a bit of a momentum team, so hopefully, this can get us going in the right direction again."

The puck drops tonight in Carman at 8 p.m.
