Portage Collegiate Institute's (PCI) varsity Trojans are off to the West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Tier 2 Semifinal.

They knocked off Shaftesbury 60-54 in Portage. Head coach Janey Bradford says the team's really bought into their system and it's showing on the court.

"It seems like the boys know the value of the game we're playing right now," says Bradford. "I think, for some of them, it was their first experience playing in a game that they really wanted to win, and they were really trying to keep their composure and trying to keep things in perspective. I think our guys stepped up on defence and used our stance to create offence."

The Trojans host the winner of St. John's and Gordon Bell Tuesday in Portage in the semi-final. Tip-off is 6:45.
