Eight MJHL players have been invited to the Team Canada West evaluation camp this December, and Terrier' forward Chase Brakel made the cut.

Brakel's second on the team for scoring with 16 goals and 19 assists, and it's his 18th birthday December 1st. He's looking forward to a shot a making the Team Canada West.

"I'm pretty honoured to be selected because there are a lot of players that could be selected, even a lot of our guys on our team could have been selected. I'm excited and a little nervous, more excited than nervous though so that's good."

The evaluation camp will be in Leduc, Alberta from December 5-8th and the 2016 World Junior A Challenge takes place from Dec. 11-17 in Bonnyville, Alberta.

Dauphin Kings’ GM/Head Coach Marc Berry was named an assistant coach to Team West.

A total of 60 players will be in Leduc to take part in intrasquad games and practices in the hopes of cracking the final Team Canada West line-up. The Leduc Recreation Centre will host all scheduled games and practices in advance of the final roster selections for Team Canada West.

Team Canada West has won gold four times (2006, 2007, 2011 and 2015), captured a silver medal three times (2008, 2009 and 2012) and won bronze in 2013
