It was a busy day for Portage soccer clubs in the Manitoba Major Soccer League.

The Portage Cobras 3 game win streak was snapped today, as they were shutout 3-0 by Interlake Impact at Rotary Republic Park in Portage. Cobras' Chad Green says the game was even until half, when the Cobras fell apart.

"It was 0-0 at half, and then in the 2nd half we just kind of fell apart. We didn't really play that well and we made a lot of simple mistakes. They're a good team, but at the end of the day, I think we beat ourselves more than they beat us."

With the loss, the Cobras' record is now 3-4-1. The Cobras have a 2 week break, and are back at it on July 9th.

In Division 3 action, Central Plains FC were beaten 4-0 at home by IPAC Ukraine. Central Plains' Tyson Gunther says the game would've had a different outcome, if they would've been able to field a full squad.

"It wasn't exactly the result we were looking for. We ended up playing the entire game shorthanded; we had a few guys missing and away. There were a lot of positives to take away from the game because we did play well defensively for the most part. We had a few breakdowns and in the end we're left with another disappointing loss."

CPFC's record is now at 0-8. They'll look to pick up the first win of the season next Thursday.

The Portage Fusion picked up the first win of the season today with a 4-3 win on the road against Stonewall. Fusions' Glenn McCulloch says it was a chippy game, with both teams trying to pick up the win. He says it's nice to finally get in the win column.

"It's about time! It feels great to finally pick up a win, and hopefully it leads to more positive play, some more wins, and maybe we'll see a few more people coming out to our games."

The Fusion now have a record of 1-6, and will look to get another win next Thursday, when they travel to Winnipeg to face FC Russia.
