Workers Compensation Board coverage will be extended as of January 1st, 2007.

The province made that announcement yesterday.

Landscape architecture, land surveying, and property management are among those to be covered. Portage and District Labour Council President Daren van den Bussche believes this is an improvement in the provincial situation. However, he says there's more work to be done so everyone is covered.
Van den Bussche is unhappy farm labourers still don't qualify for workers compensation, noting it's a dangerous industry. He believes there shouldn't be distinctions between those who are eligible for coverage.
Outside window cleaning, testing laboratories, aviation and air transport, exploration and prospecting, mushroom plants, and taxidermy are the other industries included.
