The second half record of the Winnipeg Goldeyes now sits at 1-1 following last night's shutout victory.

The Fish were at home taking on the Joliet Jackhammers, and based on an outstanding performance on the mound from Glen Bott, blanked their opposition, 3-0. Bott allowed 5 hits, fanned four and walked two before being replaced with two out in the ninth inning, by Howard Pence. Pence retired one batter to secure the save, while David Manning took the loss.

On the offensive side of things, all of the Winnipeg runs came on solo blasts. David Gates hit his 2nd of the year in the 2nd inning followed by Harry Berrios' 3rd round tripper in the 4th and finally in the 6th inning, Jimmy Hurst belted his 11th of the campaign.

Winnipeg Coach, Steve Maddock, says as per usual Bott was on his game again last night. He adds that in the past Bott has worked until the 8th or 9th inning and it looks as though he has the victory all sewn up, only to have the rest of the team let him down, and Maddock feels Bott deserves better than that, as well as more wins on his record.

The 3rd and final game of the series goes tonight in Winnipeg beginning at 7:00 o'clock.
