The City of Portage la Prairie is facing some delays in their mosquito fogging process.
Fogging was supposed to begin on Sunday and Monday, but due to winds exceeding the recommended levels on Sunday and now rain being called in the forecast for the start of the week, things are looking slightly different.
Director of operations Jocelyn Lequier-Jobin notes that for the city to spray, winds must be below 15 kilometres per hour, and there must be virtually 0 precipitation.
"We realize that the mosquito situation is quite bad at this time, and we will get the fogging done as soon as we can within our guidelines."
Lequier-Jobin outlines the new game plan for fogging.
"On Wednesday night, we would be doing all the areas south of the tracks, not including Koko Platz and Bridge Rd. On Thursday, we would be spraying all the areas north of the tracks and Koko Platz and Bridge Rd."
Those who would like to register for a "No fog zone" can call--204-239-8346--at least 24 hours before they are scheduled to spray.
Due to forecasted weather conditions, Mosquito Fogging with Delta Gard 20EW (active ingredient Deltamethrin) has been rescheduled, weather permitting, to Wednesday June 22 and Thursday June 23. Read more here. https://t.co/JtU4K8TUCL
