The RM of Westboune's taken another step toward becoming part of the Yellowhead Water System.

A water rate schedule's been approved by the Public Utilities Board. It'll be $10.00 per thousand gallons, with the minimum residential quarterly bill at $39.25, based on three thousand gallons.

Reeve David Single points out this is something new for Westbourne, since they've never had water rates before. He hopes they've set them at appropriate levels.

Single adds the RM's worked on obtaining water service for about five years, but cautions this is only a start. A few customers have been hooked up, but the process will continue for several years.

Single feels being part of a rural water system benefits the RM because it provides a reliable supply and is safer because it's treated.
