The province's grain corn farmers have been taking advantage of the recent warm, windy weather.

Manitoba Corn Growers Association (MCGA) General Manager Pam de Rocquigny explained how much harvest progress has been completed.

"In the central and eastern parts of the province, we're probably seeing the most progress, kind of upwards of 30 to 35 per cent complete," she said. "In areas such as the southwest, northwest and the Interlake, for those corn acres out in those areas, harvest is slowly getting underway for some and some are also just waiting for the crops to dry down a little bit further before they start."

De Rocquigny notes this week's strong winds did cause damage in some of the fields.

She says they've been seeing yield numbers ranging from about 110 to 200 bushels per acre.
