Neepawa's former mayor looks to continue his political career, vying for a nomination for the provincial Conservatives.

Ken Waddell didn't expect Glen Cummings -- the Ste. Rose MLA -- to retire this year but after considering other seats, the home constituency makes for a sensible opportunity.

Waddell already has his priorities mapped out.  He plans to focus on reorganizing the regional health authorities, overhaul the tax system, and improve government attitude towards farmers.

Waddell is confident the NDP government doesn't understand agriculture.  He also stresses the party needs to be taken out before the province goes bankrupt.

But Waddell expects tough competition for the seat before he puts his plans to use.
