A new exhibit's soon to be on display at the Portage and District Arts Centre.

Lee Beaton"Audrey Lute's exhibit, The Pond and Beyond, is really going to be an interesting exhibit," says Arts Program Coordinator Lee Beaton. "She's a lot of fun. This is a fantasy creation out of her imagination. It's really interesting to see how much detail is in each of the paintings."

Beaton explains Lute depicts the underwater life of the Ograt in ponds, and you can see them alongside realistic fish. She adds it's a phenomenal exhibit and the detail is amazing.

Lute describes her work:

"My 'monster' depicts a fictional mystical animal called the Ograt. Ograts live and work underwater, and although they look threatening with the frog-like heads, hunched backs, and lizard arms, are found to be friendly, family-oriented creatures. This series shows how these small creatures live, love, work, survive and interact with their family unit. The Ograt's purpose is to grow lily pads and develop strong friendships and family ties. Each new generation is taught how to nurture and protect their precious crops.'

The grand opening takes place September 7 in the main gallery for the reception and artist's talk.
