Three youths have been charged in connection with an armed robbery last Saturday night at the Trans Canada Shell station, east of Portage.

The RCMP say three suspects wearing hoodies came into the station just before midnight. One brandished a knife at the clerk, demanding money and cigarettes.

They were given a small amount of both and fled in a vehicle.

The RCMP conducted a search, but came up empty.

On Sunday, the police received a call from the suspects, who wanted to surrender. One of them also claimed responsibility for two robberies at the east 7-11 store in the last few months.

They can't be named, but all three have been charged with robbery and wearing a disguise.

They've been released, and will appear in court at a later date.
