Portage la Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce held its quarterly chamber lunch today. The theme was the State of the City and RM, and mayor Irvine Ferris and deputy reeve Roy Tufford presented the address.

"The State of the City address is a chance to bring members of the chamber up to date on a summary of the past year," says Ferris. "And also bring them up to date on what we're currently working on for 2017, and beyond for the next year."

Ferris says he referred to and was asked further about the current lawsuit regarding the building deficiencies at Stride Place. He notes they expect they end litigation successfully in the city's favour, considering the case being presented. He adds we didn't get what we paid for.

Deputy reeve Roy Tufford

Tufford says he spoke of some high points the RM experienced and is planning as well. he adds cleanup at Delta Beach wasn't completely covered by disaster financial assistance, but will be covered by the RM, and notes they're excited about the new campground underway.
