There'll be a new face at the Gladstone town council table after the October municipal elections.

Mayor Catherine Smith isn't seeking re-election, after spending eight years in the position.

She urges anyone in the town who's interested in running for mayor or council to do so. She's convinced that's how to make the town viable.
Smith is proud of what Council accomplished during her time, including securing enough doctors keep the hospital going, and joining the Yellowhead water system.

She'll miss working with the Council and staff, but believes she gave her best to the job.
