The executive director of Child and Family Services of Central Manitoba retires today.

Janet Shindle spent better than 20 years with the organization, as a supervisor and as director since 1999.

However, retirement doesn't mean she won't be busy -- she serves on Portage City Council, and has other interests, including chairing the Portage Community Network.

Shindle's been on vacation for the last few weeks, and during that time has returned her building key and agency credit card, among other things. In spite of that, she acknowledges it's difficult leaving the organization, even though she's confident it's in good hands.

Shindle adds the highlight of her career is seeing kids succeed with help from CFS.
