In the late hours of last night, the crew finished up the repairs on the Saskatchewan Avenue railroad. Traffic is now moving freely eastbound and westbound. The major crossing was closed for two days to make repairs to the crossing, making it safer for both trains and vehicles.
The City of Portage la Prairie is reporting that both the westbound and eastbound lanes of the Saskatchewan Avenue West railway crossing will be closed for maintenance and repair by CP Rail.
The closure will start on Thursday, at 9:00 a.m. and go until to Friday, at 8:00 p.m. East/West traffic will have to use the Portage bypass (highway 1) or detour around the crossing by using Park Avenue and 18th St NW just east of Craig Dunn GM.
