The Rotary Club's president will be taking a bit of a backseat for the future.

The Rotary Club of Portage la Prairie's executive changeover was held on July 2 with Sherri Palmer stepping down as president. Palmer will continue her membership with the club and she says she's grateful to have been the president of a club that does so much good for the community.

"There's been lots going on but I think that everyone in the club can say that it doesn't matter what role you play with the club," explains Palmer. "We all jump into projects when help is needed. There's been lots accomplished and we're pretty proud of that."

The last two event that the Rotary Club held under her presidency was the golf tournament, designed to be an annual get-together for club members to help boost the fellowship within the club.

"I think (the camaraderie) is something that attracts new members," notes Palmer. "We're so happy to see new members who've come on board because of it and it keeps our existing members coming back."

Palmer is handing off the reins of the Rotary Club to Tosha Hotel. PortageOnline will be following up to see how Hotel is feeling following being sworn in.
