Adam Carpenter is councillor for Ward 6 of the RM of Portage la Prairie, and was sworn-in this week along with the other councillors and reeve. Attorney Barney Christianson was present and officiated for the swearing-in.

The inauguration of the newest council in the RM preceded Carpenter's first time with council.

"It's a lot to take in," says Carpenter. "It's pretty exciting, though. They're a great group of people. I'm looking forward to working with all them."

Carpenter explains he's always been interested in municipal work, adding he has many family members who were involved with the RM over the years.

"I'm on the Financial committee and part of the Fibre Utility committee, too," notes Carpenter.

He adds he's glad to be a part of council seeing as he likes to get around and talk to people and helping them out.

No election took place for council, seeing as no one put their names up for all but one seat. Carpenter was the only one who vied for the position of Ward 6 councillor following councillor Dale Wood's retirement from municipal politics.
