A request was presented to the RM of Portage la Prairie recently by Roquette’s pea protein processing plant regarding the need for lights at the two intersections that lead up to their property.

Reeve Kam Blight shares how council responded.

“Council discussed that we look at the quotes that were provided in dealing with Manitoba Hydro,” says Blight. “Council’s approved putting lights on with the two different access points going into Roquette.”

He notes this will provide the necessary visibility and safety at those intersections. Blights says the request was received and immediately approved, noting the price tag is $36,000.

“That will come but it's not a direct budget impact,” explains Blight. “There are some outstanding funds owed on the project. So, we're covered.”
