A public hearing is happening tonight in Elm Creek as the Rural Municipality of Grey looks to join the Carman-Dufferin Planning District.

The R.M. has been working with Carman-Dufferin since the fall of 2019, and with the partnership going so well, they are preparing to proceed with joining the district. The R.M. has already been using their services for building and planning permits. A building or development permit is required for ALL construction being done within the R.M. of Grey whether it is residential, commercial or farm. Permit fees will be DOUBLE if construction starts before permits are issued.

The public hearing was scheduled for last week, but with the blizzard, it was postponed until tonight at 7 p.m. at the Elm Creek Community Hall.

If you have any questions on this proposal, please contact Kim Arnal at the RM Office or Tyler King, Director of Economic Development at 204-745-2675.

Permit applications will be done by the Carman-Dufferin Planning District office. Once applications are prepared, they can be sent electronically to applicants or the R.M. of Grey office for signing. Payments can be made at the R.M. of Grey office as well.

For any building or planning related questions or for permit applications please contact Kim at 204-745-2443 or planning@townofcarman.com.
