For the fifth time, Long Plain First Nation's Rez Fest takes to the stage tonight. It's at the Keeshkeemaquah Gaming and Conference Centre in Portage.

Among the performers are Juno Award winners Eagle and Hawk, and Derek Miller.

Arrowhead Development Corporation General Manager Tim Daniels hopes it can also introduce new acts to a wider audience. That's why they've moved the festival to Portage. They're also considering expanding to two days, and holding it outdoors.

Daniels points out amateur talent has played Rez Fest by invitation only in the past, but this year it's wide open.

He believes the artists' music accurately reflects the aboriginal community.
