The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are looking to hear from more young people as they look to add to their National Youth Advisory Committee.

The RCMP says that Canadian residents aged 13 to 21 can now apply to become a part of the Committee. Applications must be received by September 12th. Those who apply by July 31st will be a part of the first selection round and get a better chance of being selected.

The RCMP notes that this is an online opportunity for youth to unite, have their say and make a difference.

According to the press release provided to PortageOnline, committee members will interact with participants from all over the country and discuss important issues they face in their respective communities.

Thoughts shared about youth crime and victimization topics will help shape RCMP programs and initiatives.

Committee members can also receive reference letters and volunteer hours to recognize their contributions.

Last year, nine Manitobans were a part of the committee.

The deadline to apply for the 2022-23 National Youth Advisory Committee is September 12th.
