Manitoba RCMP are sharing tragic news Friday afternoon regarding an accident from earlier this week.
On Wednesday at 11:40 p.m., RCMP officers from Stonewall / Headingley responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 1, located approximately one kilometre west of Highway 26.
According to investigators, a vehicle with two individuals was travelling westbound on the bridge spanning the Assiniboine River when it lost control, causing it to enter the ditch and roll over.
The driver, a 33-year-old man from Dauphin, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
The passenger, a 45-year-old female from Dauphin, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP say that weather conditions are believed to be a factor in the collision.
