Despite this morning's cool temperatures and rain, the weather for the long weekend looks pretty promising.

It's a wet start to the long weekend.  Portage and area was hit with a thunderstorm this morning.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Dale Marciski says despite a rainy start, the long weekend won't be all bad.  He notes we can expect more rain tonight and in to tomorrow morning, adding tomorrow afternoon, Sunday and Monday should be sunny with highs in the mid 20's.

Marciski notes it's now relatively hard to tell what we can expect for the rest of the month, however he says there will be more chances for rainfall in the next week or two.

Though we may see highs in the 20's this August long weekend falls short of last year's where Portage was treated to no rain and highs in the low 30's.
