A break for Manitoba Businesses.

Corporate and small business taxes have been reduced as part of an 80 million dollar tax cut plan put in place by the province this week.

Wayne Lusk - partner with Meyers Norris Penny in Portage - believes the plan is a step towards strengthening the economy.  As a result of the cuts, he believes businesses will be better able to retain qualified workers by increasing wages or opportunities.

The small business tax rate alone fell one-and-a-half points, which Lusk calls significant.  He estimates thousands of dollars will be freed up to business owners.

The tax cut plan includes a 60 per cent tuition fee income tax rebate for Manitoba students who graduate, and a reduction in personal taxes.
