An Ag rep says last year's rain is actually what's sustaining this year's crops. This week's rainfall isn't considered relief for farmers searching for rain clouds.

It was spotty and only delivered half an inch of rain at most.

Now that's been the story all season long for agriculture, and it has some praising last year's excessive rainfall levels.  This includes Portage Ag rep Shawn Cabak, who says it's sustaining this year's crops.

While Cabak stays optimistic he admits the drier than normal season has taken its toll, with yields not living up to initial expectations.

Winter wheat is currently being combined early, and Cabak notes early seeded crops are looking the best.
