The Prairie Ripples Art Tour took place this past weekend in Portage la Prairie.

"I believe the numbers were down at most of the stations," says Lee Beaton, Art Program Director for the Portage and District Arts Centre. "Maybe some of the newer stations, where new artists who hadn't participated before were involved this year, had good numbers which is quite normal. I know that numbers at my place were definitely down. But we had great visits from the people who did come out, and we had some great conversations."

She says most who took in the tour arrived from Winnipeg and North Dakota, with one couple coming annually from the state. Beaton adds, with so many events taking place in Portage that weekend, they'll have to re-evaluate their dates for next year. She says Dragon Boat racing took place in Winnipeg, and she personally knows some people who attended that.

"More and more, there's so much for people to do," she continues. "If they've been to the Prairie Ripples Art Tour before, they probably think they don't need to go again because they already saw it."

Beaton says you can find updates on the future of the tour at the PDAC website. She reminds everyone that the PDAC fall sale takes place in November.
