Lights, curtains, action! The Prairie Players are back.

The theatre group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the William Glesby Centre and the first meeting was held on September 13th. President Rosa Rawlings says this is their first foray back into rehearsals and meetings following Mary Poppins, which they performed in 2019 for their 50th anniversary.

“We had planned to do a show, of course in the spring of 2020, but that got kyboshed,” explains Rawlings. “We're going to do that same show, it’s Steel Magnolias directed by Pam Stinson for her first directing act.”

That production will be taking place from November 9th through until the 12th. She adds, while the cast for the production is entirely female, anyone can get involved in a backstage role if they’d like to join the team.

“It’s a lot of fun,” says Rawlings, “We’re a great group of people, we had a nice turnout (on September 13th) which was good after 2 1/2 years. They’re all gung ho and ready to go.”

The next meeting for the Prairie Players will be held on October 11th at the William Glesby Centre, however, they’re looking for three or four cast members for Steel Magnolias and will host open auditions on September 19th and 20th, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30.
