The Pan-am games takes place in Mexico this year, a former Portage la Prairie resident is hoping she can bring back gold in water skiing.
Kathy Butler leaves September 16th and will compete on the 19th in trick, slalom and jump events.  She is optimistic jump will be her strong point in the competition, having jumped over 100 feet in previous competition.
Butler has been water skiing since she was very young--she used to do a mixed doubles routine with her grandfather.  As for the games she'll have a full day of training once arriving in Mexico, finals will take place on the 20th.
