A Portage la Prairie husband and wife were in an accident as they entered Portage la Prairie while driving home from Winnipeg -- in two separate vehicles. The woman was driving a pickup westward into Portage with her husband who was behind her in a white SUV.

She explained as they approached Cobbe's Plumbing and Heating on the east end of Portage la Prairie, a grey car suddenly was seen making its way eastward toward her in the pickup in her westbound lane. She drove her pickup to the right to attempt to go into the ditch so that hat she could avoid being hit by the oncoming vehicle. However, there was not enough time, and the oncoming car hit the pickup on the driver's side by the front wheel.

This sent the pickup spinning into the ditch, while the oncoming car continued and hit the white SUV behind the first, and finally came to a stop. The driver in the white SUV suffered a few burns from the airbags on that driver's legs and arm along with a bruise on the driver's left side. The pickup driver sustained a few cuts and burns as well as a broken sternum.

We received no information about the driver of the grey vehicle.
