A Portage la Prairie RCMP officer patrolled the area last week when he observed a vehicle driving suspiciously.

In the early hours of last Saturday, the officer conducted a traffic stop on Saskatchewan Avenue West near 2nd Street NW.

The officer asked the driver to provide a breath sample on a Roadside Screening Device. The result of which was a Fail.

The 30-year-old woman from Portage was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation of a Vehicle.

The driver was taken back to the RCMP Detachment, where she provided two breath samples to be analyzed, and those results were more than the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle.

The woman faces charges of Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle while over 80mg%.

The driver will also lose her licence, and the vehicle she was driving was towed and impounded for a minimum of 30 days.

She was released to appear in court at a later date.
