École Crescentview School students and staff held their Festival du Voyageur event earlier this week.

Kindergarten Teacher Laura Hordeski says this event helped students learn about Manitoba's history with French Canadian, Indigenous and Métis culture.

"It's part of who we are as a community and part of who they are as students," says Hordeski.

The mini Festival du Voyageur at Crescentview took place on Tuesday, February 21, and was filled with pancakes, fiddle music, singing, crafting, dancing, poutine, and a concert.

"We were all excited that it was our first time since COVID to be back together celebrating something so big," adds the Kindergarten Teacher.

She says that while they could not facilitate getting the kids to Winnipeg for the real Festival du Voyageur, this was the next best educational option.

"We just love seeing our students have some fun while learning, and I think we accomplished that," notes Hordeski.
