Things are about to get mysterious at Portage la Prairies City Hall as it transforms into a haunted version of itself for Halloween festivities. Community members will have the opportunity to visit on Sunday and join in on the spooky fun.

The Haunted City Hall will take place from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Sunday. 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. is a less spooky edition, and 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. is the full-blown spooky version.

Portage Mayor Sharilyn Knox says this will be an entertaining event.

"Somebody commented on one of the city's Facebook posts, and they said this is what our city needs: more random fun. So, let's do it."

According to Knox, the tours will last 15 minutes each and commence at the front of the building.

"You're going to be walking through, and there's going to be different themes. You're going to see lots of people involved, city staff and council members, all dressed up."

She adds that her costume this year is going to be 'Mayor Scary-lyn Knox.'

"When I started as Mayor, I found out that we have a staff person, Stacey Zimmer, who works in our payroll department, who loves Halloween. She would decorate City Hall for staff. So, I said, 'Well, why don't we do this and share it with the community?' Here we are a year later, ready to go."

Knox expressed that she feels incredibly proud to hold her position as Mayor during weekends like this when various Halloween events occur in Portage.
