The Portage Community Revitalization Corporation (PCRC) will be accepting Small Grant applications from small groups and organizations for a little while longer.

Community Facilitator Rachel Templeton says the initial deadline was October 1st, but due to the National Day of Mourning for Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, they’ve decided to push the date back to this Wednesday, October 5th, at 4 p.m.
She says that there are many reasons why you can apply for a grant.

“Whether it's a school that needs a family gathering room or meeting room,” explains Templeton. “Maybe a kitchen needs help with renovations or a preschool needs to freshen up their entranceway to make it safer and more appealing.”

She adds you could also use the grant for a one-time event, such as a job fair if you need help paying for a venue. She notes that this grant is available to anyone looking to improve Portage.

“If you're an organization that's looking to do you know something to help out the community,” says Templeton. “You can check out the website, fill out the application and send it in.”

Some of last year's recipients include Sunset Palliative, Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Plains, and the Portage Ukrainian Nursery School.
