We're into the final few days of 2006 and the final days of Operation Red Nose in Portage la Prairie.
It's a program making sure holiday revellers and their vehicles make it home safely.
This is the first time Portage has participated, and Coordinator Cindy Mulder says it's been well received. She uses the RM and City Councils' participation as an example, as well as Portage Minor Hockey.
Mulder notes they've provided between 60 and 65 rides so far, raising $1500.00 for Portage Minor Hockey, surpassing her goal of $1000.00.
Operation Red Nose has operated Friday and Saturday nights, but this weekend it'll be Friday and Sunday. Mulder says they opted for that because New Year's Eve is expected to be very busy.
They have about 85 volunteers, but she'd welcome more for this weekend.
