With mosquito trap counts down this summer, the City of Portage la Prairie hasn't had to do any fogging.

Drier than normal conditions and cooler temperatures have dropped mosquito counts to levels where fogging isn't necessary, city parks manager Dave Green says.

"At this time, there is no fogging planned," Green explains. "But that could change with weather conditions."

The city has a new mosquito fogging product, DeltaGard, fully licensed and available for use. Green notes each application costs about $16,000. Typically, the city does mosquito fogging between one to three times per summer. However, Green notes there have been several years where no fogging takes place due to weather conditions.
