When Faron Nicholls found out the City of Portage elected him to council his first time running, he said it felt surreal.

On October 26th, Nicholls received 1922 votes, good enough for fourth overall. He says he is humbled by the decision and he has his eyes wide open as he moves forward.

"I'm looking forward to the group of councillors that we have, and, of course, Mayor (Sharilyn) Knox. I think we've got the makings of a great looking team. I'm very happy to be a part of that."

Nicholls wants to thank his wife, his family and close friends, as well as his neighbours. He is so grateful for everyone who helped him with his campaign. Nicholls says he enjoyed having conversations with the people of Portage.

"I'll work very hard to ensure that I fill those expectations. I think most that know me, know that I like to see things get done, and done for the right reasons," says Nicholls. "I think this group, from what I can see, we've got a lot of the same thoughts."

Nicholls and the rest of the council will be sworn in Tuesday evening.
